Sources: Klaesson to undergo Leeds medical tomorrow after seven-figure bid accepted
Leeds United have had a £2million bid accepted by Valerenga for goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson, Football Insider has learned.
The 20-year-old is set to undergo a United medical tomorrow after completing quarantine before putting the finishing touches to the transfer.
A Leeds source has told Football Insider that they have agreed a fee for Klaesson of an initial £1.6m climbing to £2m with performance-related add-ons.
All parties are confident that the deal will be completed this week before the Norwegian youngster links up with his new teammates for the final segment of their pre-season campaign.
Leeds had already applied for a work permit for the youngster, who is not yet a full Norway international.
However, he has represented his country all the way through the age groups up to Under-21 level there are not expected to be any issues with him getting authorisation.
Klaessson is set to become Leeds' third first-team signing of the summer following the earlier arrivals of Junior Firpo and Jack Harrison.
United have also spent significant sums on youthful talent who will initially link up with their youth teams before being blooded in the senior side.
Klaesson has been signed as the new deputy to established number one Illan Meslier.
This comes following the exit earlier this summer of Kiko Casilla, who joined Spanish top-tier side Elche on a season-long loan.
Leeds turned their attention to Klaesson after being snubbed by Newcastle United's Freddie Woodman.
