Whelan 'amazed' by what he heard at Leeds as Forshaw makes return
Noel Whelan is over the moon to see Adam Forshaw get minutes for Leeds United in pre-season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the Whites ambassador, who was at the game against Guiseley on Tuesday night, recalled the “amazing cheer” the fans gave the 29-year-old when he entered the pitch.
Forshaw has not featured for Leeds United’s first team for 22 months because of a hip injury.
On Tuesday, he made his eagerly anticipated return as a second-half substitute as a young Whites side ran out 3-2 victors over Guiseley.
Whelan hopes the centre-midfielder can continue his recovery over the next few months to play a part in the upcoming season.
“Hopefully it’s the first of many,” he told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.

“The cheer he got from the crowd when he came on was just amazing.
“It has been such a long time for Adam to get back to that point last night. It must have felt great.
“Yes, it was just a short amount of time but it is a big step in the process of him coming back to full fitness. It was great to see him out there in a competitive match, it really was.
“Hopefully he will be a big part of this season. Touch wood there is no more injuries or niggles and this is the start of a fantastic season for him.”
