Celtic are submitting a bid for Legia Warsaw star Josip Juranovic after late-night talks, Football Insider understands.

The Hoops have identified the Croatia international, 26, as their number one right-back target in recent days.

A Celtic source has told Football Insider the club will hold further talks with Legia Warsaw today in an attempt to reach an agreement over price for Juranovic.

They are expected to submit a bid of over £2million to Legia Warsaw after reports their opening offer was knocked back.

The indications the Scottish giants have had from the player's camp is he is keen to make the move to Parkhead ahead of the 31 August cut-off.

Anthony Ralston is Celtic's only registered right-back and they want cover and competition for him despite his impressive start to the campaign.

Jeremie Frimpong had been the Hoops' first choice on the right side of defence last season until his January exit and the Everton loanee Jonjoe Kenny took over for the second half of the campaign.

Manager Ange Postecoglou wants a proven defender who can also bomb forward on the overlap and create goal opportunites.

Juranovic has a fine track record in that regard, supplying eight assists from 26 league matches last season.

He is also an established international and started two of Croatia's four matches at Euro 2020 earlier in the summer.

Since returning to Legia Warsaw, the defender has already made eight appearances this season.

That includes five Champions League qualifier matches as well as two starts in the Polish top division.
