Sources: Man City plan to open talks over Kyle Walker deal
Man City are likely to offer veteran right-back Kyle Walker a new contract at the club, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed that the Premier League champions want to keep the long-serving defender, 32, at the club despite his advancing years.
Walker's current contract expires in June 2024, meaning there is no rush to open renewal negotiations.
Sources with knowledge of the England star's situation have revealed that he remains happy at the club - and he remains a key figure in Pep Guardiola's plans.
Progress over a new deal is likely to be made during the off-season.
Walker has regained his place in the Man City side in recent weeks, with youngster Rico Lewis back on the bench after his breakthrough over the busy Christmas period.
The shock exit of Joao Cancelo last month has also contributed to his increased role in the side.
Football Insider revealed on 4 February that Cancelo, 28, is not expected to play for the club again after completing a shock loan-to-buy move to Bayern Munich.
Bayern are able to activate a £61million buy option at the end of the season.
At 32, Walker is the oldest regular starter in the Man City squad - with Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez also veterans of Guardiola's side.
Nevertheless, he retains the speed and sharpness which persuaded City to part with a reported £50million to sign him from Tottenham in 2017.
The Sheffield United youth product has won four Premier League titles, four League Cups and an FA Cup during his time at the club.
Walker and City face Bristol City in the FA Cup on Tuesday (28 February).
