Manchester United midfielder James Garner has completed a loan move to Nottingham Forest, Football Insider has learned.

This site broke the news early yesterday that the United starlet, 20, has already signed a new three-year deal that includes a 12-month option.

Now a United source has told Football Insider that Garner has finalised a season-long loan move to Championship big guns Forest.

He put pen to paper on the deal last night after completing a medical earlier in the day.

His new Man United terms replace the midfielder’s current deal, signed when he was aged 18 back in 2019, and which was due to expire next year.

The club's plan this summer has been to extend Garner’s contract and send him out on a new season-long loan after spells last season at Watford before Christmas and then Forest in the second half of the campaign.

He played 21 times for the Hornets before moving to the City Ground in January.

Garner made a further 20 appearances and scored four goals for Forest before the end of the season.

He will now have the chance to impress over a full campaign.

Forest are rock bottom of the Championship, losing all of their first four games.

Chris Hughton will look to Garner to turn the team's fortunes around once he's ready to start.

A graduate of the Manchester United academy, Garner has played seven times for the senior side at Old Trafford.

He has also featured for England’s youth sides from under-17s to under-20s.
