Basel centre-forward Albian Ajeti has opted to sign for West Ham after snubbing offers from West Brom and Brentford, Football Insider understands.

The 22-year-old has passed a Hammers medical and the club are set to announce later today he has completed a move worth £8.5million including add-ons.

A West Ham source has told Football Insider the deal is all but done for Ajeti to become their second striker signing after club-record arrival Sebastien Haller.

The two Championship clubs had initially out-bid West Ham and made contract offers to the striker that made clear their desire to sign him before tomorrow's transfer cut-off.

But Ajeti has his heart set on joining the east London club and taking his career to the next level with a move to the Premier League.

He has demonstrated his potential for Basel, scoring an outstanding 21 times from 43 matches for his club last season and 43 in 96 appearances in total.

Ajeti has also played seven times for the Switzerland national side.
