Tottenham are likely to make Club Brugge star Antonio Nusa their last signing of the January window with three potential midfielder deals collapsing, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking to the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Spurs may have to abandon their pursuit of a new midfielder - with a move for top target Conor Gallagher of Chelsea likely to wait until the summer window at the earliest.

Spurs have already moved to bring Timo Werner in on loan and defender Radu Dragusin in on a permanent basis.

The Norway international is set to be loaned back to the Belgian side for the rest of the season.

Tottenham had been keen to do even more January business and bring in a new midfielder to bolster their squad, but have been priced out of several moves for their top targets.

Ange Postecoglou's side will not bring Gallagher to the club this month despite extensive interest now spanning multiple windows.

Kalvin Phillips of Man City and Ederson of Atalanta were also looked at, but the Spurs recruitment staff have decided a deal for either player is simply too expensive to do.

Postecoglou is likely to have to make do with his existing numbers in midfield for the rest of this season, and will be boosted when Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr return from the African Cup of Nations.
