Tottenham have a strong interest in Birmingham City rising star Rico Browne, sources have told Football Insider.

The 19-year-old captains Birmingham Under-21s and the Midlands outfit are keen to extend his contract, which expires in the summer.

Tottenham previously tried to sign Browne but he rejected an 18-month contract offer from them, opting to sign a new deal at St Andrew's.

The Londoners are now set to return with a new offer for the centre-back.

He has played regularly for Birmingham’s Under-21 side in the Professional Development League this season after returning from a serious injury sustained at the end of last season.

But the St Kitts and Nevis youth international is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Championship side.

Tottenham are looking to ramp up their youth recruitment as they attempt to maintain the successful talent pipeline at the club.

Oliver Skipp, Japhet Tanganga, Dane Scarlett and Troy Parrott are among the latest stars to graduate from the well-regarded academy setup at Hotspur Way.
