Wolves are confident of signing Tottenham loan striker Carlos Vinicius this summer, Football Insider has learned.

This site revealed last month that Spurs have no plans to sign Vinicius permanently and that has opened the door to Nuno Espirito Santo's side.

A Wolves source has told Football Insider the club are keen on luring the Brazilian forward, 26, and have discussed a potential deal with Benfica that could see Ruben Vinagre head the other way.

Nuno is in the market for a new striker in the upcoming window amid doubts over the future of Raul Jimenez after his fractured skull.

Vinicius is regarded as a front man capable of making a big impact at Molineux.

He joined Tottenham from Benfica last summer on a loan-to-buy transfer that includes a purchase option set at £38m that can be activated at the end of June.

Spurs have no intention of paying that kind of price for the forward, who was one of three signings brought to the Londoners last summer by super agent Jorge Mendes.

Wolves are willing to use Vinagre as leverage for Vinicius.

Benfica have set their sights on the left-back, who is currently on loan at Portugese club Famalicao after spending the first half of the season at Olympiacos.

He has a Wolves contract that runs until 2024 but is believed to be open to a permanent move to the Continent.

Vinicius has struggled for game time at Spurs this season, which is not uncommon for back-up forwards at the club.

He has a creditable goals-per-minutes record but nine of his 10 strikes have come in the Europa League and FA Cup against weaker opposition.
