'The deal was done before' - Exclusive: Pundit touts Leeds signing 22-yr-old on loan
Leeds United should consider a loan move rather than a permanent deal for Daniel James, according to Michael Brown.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Leeds and Spurs midfielder delivered his verdict as the Whites tabled a bid for the Welshman.
James was pictured with a Leeds shirt on deadline day only for Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins to block the deal at the last minute.
The 22-year-old then joined Manchester United in the summer of last year but has since fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
He started United's opening Premier League game but was substituted at half-time and did not make the matchday squad for their next game.
Asked by Football Insider whether he can see James moving to Elland Road before Monday's transfer deadline, Brown said: “We know that they like him because the deal was done before he moved to Manchester United and it got pulled at the last second.
“He knows that and that will play on his mind that he knows he’s liked and he knows the club wanted him.
“On this occasion, you could possibly say a loan deal would work well.”
James made an impressive start to life in the Premier League with Man Utd last season netting three goals in his first four games.
However, the Welsh international failed to find the net in his next 29 top-flight games but he did contribute six assists.
