Tottenham are confident of sealing the signing of Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele next week in a deal worth up to £60million, Football Insider understands.

The Champions League finalists have held extensive negotiations with the Ligue 1 club and have made a breakthrough in the last 24 hours about the structure of the deal.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider the club will not pay the £70million-plus fee wanted by Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas, and are instead close to settling the cost at £55million plus around £5million of add-ons.

Ndombele has made it clear he wants to join Spurs ahead of his other suitors, including Juventus, and he jet into London next week to undergo a medical and finalise terms.

He would become Tottenham's second signing of what promises to be a major overhaul of the playing squad this summer.

As revealed by Football Insider, Jack Clarke will be unveiled by Spurs on Monday after they agreed to pay Leeds United £12million including add-ons as well as hand him a four-year contract with the option of an extra 12 months worth £20,000-a-week.

Clarke is regarded as one for the future, while Ndombele will be expected to slot straight into Mauricio Pochettino's first team next season.

The France international, 23, has extensive high-level experience in the Champions League and Ligue 1 as well as starting to establish himself in the team of the World Cup holders.
