Paul Robinson would be "delighted" if Tottenham get a deal for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma over the line.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-White Hart Lane number one said the "brilliant, box-to-box, tenacious" 25-year-old would fit into Antonio Conte's side.

Bissouma has just 12 months remaining on his contract at Brighton and it appears unlikely that he will sign a new deal.

According to The Times' Gary Jacob (14 June), Spurs have agreed a £25million fee with the Seagulls for the centre-midfielder.

Fabio Paratici has been identifying potential midfield signings ahead of Harry Winks' expected departure from the club this summer.

When asked by Football Insider if Bissouma would be a welcome addition to Conte'e side, Robinson said: "Bissouma is someone I like a lot.

"He is a brilliant player. He is box-to-box, tenacious midfielder who Conte would like.

"[Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg] has done extremely well under Conte and [Rodrigo] Bentancur has been on a different level since he has come in.

"If Spurs are to progress, Bissouma is the type of player they need. You would get excited if he came into the squad.

"Spurs will not be his only suitors. There is a deal to be had as Brighton will not want to lose him on a free next summer.

"He had a great season at Brighton. His performances in the last half of the season have turned even more heads.

"It will be interesting to see who can get a deal over the line. If Spurs can sign Bissouma I'd be delighted."
