Levy in complete control at Tottenham as 'dizzying' manager offer submitted - Maguire
Daniel Levy is in complete control at Tottenham and the budget they set aside for a new manager is entirely his decision.
That is according to finance guru and Football Insider columnist Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively about the North London club's hunt for a new boss.
Sevilla president Jose Castro claimed in an interview with the club's website on 23rd June that Julen Lopetegui had rejected a "dizzying offer" from Spurs.
Lopetegui, 54, has been boss of the Spanish club since 2019 and guided them to a title challenge in the 2020-21 campaign.
But as revealed by Football Insider on 25th June, Tottenham are now set to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo after he agreed salary terms with them.
Maguire explained that Levy's autocratic approach means that "no specific calculations" will have been made in budgeting for a new manager.
"Everything at Spurs is determined by Daniel Levy," he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
"He micromanages everything. If he feels that the price being asked for a potential manager is too high, then it goes no further.
"There are no specific calculations made. Instead, it just comes down to what Daniel's max is.
"He isn't always very flexible and therefore that tends to be the determinant in many of the decisions that are made by Spurs in terms of recruitment and retention."
Nuno is available following his departure from Wolves in May.
Spurs managing director Fabio Paratici has championed the Portuguese and is understood to be finalising negotiations.
