Tottenham should make Dominic Calvert-Lewin their top target if Harry Kane leaves, according to Paul Robinson.

The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Nuno Espirito Santo's side should test Everton's resolve with a "massive bid" for the 24-year-old this summer.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano (21st June), Tottenham rejected an opening offer of £100million for Kane from Manchester City last month.

It comes after Football Insider revealed (29th April) that the England captain was "hell bent" on leaving the north London club in the summer window.

Robinson believes Calvert-Lewin has the attributes to somewhat fill the void that would inevitably be left in Kane departure.

"If Tottenham lose Kane they need to go after somebody like Calvert-Lewin," he told Football Insider's Dylan Childs. "He is a player who can lead the line.

"Spurs will have to invest heavily in a number nine if Kane goes. They will have to go deep into their pockets to find a replacement, that's for sure.

"Go and test Everton's resolve. Go and put in a massive bid because Calvert-Lewin is someone who I think is capable of taking over from Kane."

Calvert-Lewin contributed 21 goals and four assists in 39 appearances across all competitions in the 2020-21 campaign.

He has four years remaining on his contract at Goodison Park, having put pen to paper on improved terms in March 2020.
