Tottenham Hotspur are holding out for £20million for Emerson Royal as talks commence with AC Milan, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League outfit are looking for a permanent sale of the Brazilian, but Milan are exploring multiple options including a loan-to-buy.

Spurs want to sell Royal and re-invest the money to sign a young right-back who has the potential to develop under Ange Postecoglou moving forward.

One player they are keeping tabs on is Leeds United sensation Archie Gray, 18, who made a huge impact in his breakthrough campaign at Elland Road

Royal did feature regularly under Postecoglou last season, playing in 22 Premier League games, while he has made 101 appearances for the club since he joined in 2021.

While the right-back’s contract doesn’t expire until 2025, Football Insider revealed on 7th May that Spurs had told him he was free to find a new club this summer. Postecoglou is now preparing to “rebuild” his side ahead of the new campaign.

Emerson Royal is aware of interest in him

Speaking to the Andre Hernan YouTube channel on 22nd June, Emerson said: “I know Milan are in talks with Tottenham. They have asked info for me. Milan is a great club and I’m proud and very happy regarding their interest.”

Despite the interest from the Italian giants, other clubs are interested in signing him as some Saudi Arabian sides are also monitoring his situation.

The club is focusing on trying to secure new signings to bolster the squad in an attempt to push on in the league next season.

Tottenham are working on a deal to sign a new centre-back, that will add strength to the defensive options at Postecoglou’s disposal.
