Alan Hutton has urged West Ham to complete a move for Aston Villa defender Kourtney Hause.

The former Aston Villa defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested a deal "wouldn't break the bank" for the Irons.

Hause is understood to have slipped to fourth in the pecking order at Villa Park following the loan arrival of Axel Tuanzebe.

The East London side, however, have just three senior centre-backs to call on this season after choosing not to renew the contract of Fabian Balbuena.

West Ham are set to compete on four fronts this season, having qualified for this season's Europa League group stage with a sixth-place finish last term.

Hutton believes the Hammers require more alternatives to tackle the extra workload this season.

He told Football Insider's Russell Edge: “Dawson was great last season but isn’t getting any younger, so West Ham need options.

“I think Hause does offer teams that little bit of calmness. He’s good on the ball, he’s good in the air.

“He’s got that pace as well, which you need to be a Premier League defender.

“He ticks all the boxes for West Ham, and it would be a great option if David Moyes brings him in.

“I don’t think it would break the bank. Villa would look for a half-decent fee, but I can’t see that being a problem.”

West Ham

Hause has played 46 times for Aston Villa since joining the club from Wolves in 2019 for around £3million.

West Ham have completed just two senior signings this summer in Craig Dawson and Alphonse Areola.
