Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has suggested the appeal of Real Madrid will be too much for Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold to turn down.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed his "gut feeling" is that the 25-year-old has "decided" on a La Liga move when his contract expires in 2025.

The right-back has refused to comment publicly as his contract dwindles at Anfield - with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah in similar positions.

Alexander-Arnold graduated from the Liverpool academy and made his senior debut at 18 in 2016.

He has gone on to make 322 appearances for the Reds, winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.

Trent 'has decided' to leave Liverpool for Real Madrid, says Wyness

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “My own gut feeling is that Trent has decided Real Madrid is a very appealing opportunity.

“He’ll go overseas as a young player after seeing the success that others have had with a fantastic lifestyle.

“I remember selling Thomas Gravesen to Real Madrid - he said it was 85% show business and 15% football.

“There’s an appeal unique to Madrid for younger players.

“To have that on your CV when you retire, it’s hard to give up that opportunity.”
