Noel Whelan believes West Brom have shown their strong intent for promotion with the “unbelievable signing” of Kamil Grosicki from Hull City.
The ex-Leeds United forward, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed the 31-year-old “will add more quality” to the squad which has been “strengthened really well” in January.
The Polish international has scored 8 goals and provided 5 assists for club and country this campaign in a total of 42 appearances.
When asked if the winger represented good business for the Baggies, Whelan told Football Insider: “Great signing. I feel sorry for Hull because they have lost their two top scorers and probably their two most influential players.
“What an unbelievable signing for West Brom. He is a great winger – very dangerous, scores goals, gets assists, loads of pace, very tricky.
“That was a real surprise for me when I saw it. They have strengthened really well in the window bringing in Robinson and Grosicki. They set the marker there and are showing intent.
“Fantastic signing for West Brom and he will only add more quality to an already strong West Brom side and they are showing that they want to go up this season with the signings they have made.”
Slaven Bilic also bolstered his squad with the additions of Callum Robinson and the experienced Lee Peltier.
A 2-0 victory at home to Luton Town this weekend lifted West Brom top of the Championship. Slaven Bilic’s side had failed to win in any of their previous seven league games.
In other West Brom news, Danny Mills has hailed “absolutely vital” signing.
