Alan Hutton admits he has been blown away by the resurgence of Rangers defender Borna Barisic this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Gers defender and lifelong fan of the club says many supporters will have had doubts over the left-back following his early performances at Ibrox.
The 27-year-old has become a mainstay of Steven Gerrard’s starting XI this campaign and played a crucial role in the 2-1 win over Celtic, setting up both Ryan Kent and Nikola Katic for their goals.
Admitting he was not convinced by Barisic’s qualities when he first arrived at Ibrox, Hutton says he is delighted to see the full-back proving people wrong.
“He’s really gone from strength, a lot of fans would have thought after he started at Rangers he wouldn’t really last too long,” Hutton told Football Insider.
“He’s really came out the blocks firing after a poor start and show everybody how good a player he can possibly be. His assists are unbelievable at the moment.
“Everybody thought you had to worry about just James Tavenier on the right but it’s actually turned out that you have to worry even more about the left now because he’s in sensational form.
“His two assists against Celtic, the cut-back for Kent and then the corner was unbelievable.”
Barisic has played 27 times across all competitions already this season, becoming a huge threat in the final third with 13 assists to his name.
