Unprecedented Ibrox development can help Rangers beat RB Leipzig - pundit

Rangers can use the “special” atmosphere at Ibrox to spur them onto victory in Thursday night’s (5 May) Europa League semi-final second leg with RB Leipzig, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League and England defender insisted the 1-0 loss out in Germany last week (28 April) was not the worst result.

The sides were only separated by Angelino’s thunderous long-distance strike as Rangers defended valiantly at the Red Bull Arena.

As quoted by club media on Friday (29 April) Giovanni van Bronckhorst insisted his side fully believe they can reach their first European final since 2008.

“Leipzig will not have been in an atmosphere like Ibrox for some timeit is something special, we know that,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Rangers rode their luck a little bit and Christopher Nkunku had an off day. He had lots of chances but couldn’t find the target or the back of the net. It was a fabulous strike from Angelino.

“1-0 away from home is not the worst result in the world. Of course, you’d rather have 0-0, wouldn’t we all.

“Going back to Ibrox they will be thinking ‘All we’ve got to do is score. Even if it’s 1-1 you have to score and keep a clean sheet’.

“Two-legged football is always different and it hasn’t dramatically changed at 1-0.”

Rangers overcame a 1-0 deficit in their quarter-final with Braga earlier this season.

They lost out in Portugal before winning 3-1 at Ibrox to set up the semi-final with Leipzig.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has revealed Rangers risk turning their ‘allies’ against them as an £8million deal is on the line.
