Arsenal could hijack Chelsea’s plans to sign Victor Osimhen in a blockbuster deal, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed Mikel Arteta is looking to sign a number nine this summer.

The Gunners have been interested in the Napoli striker for some time, but signing him won’t come cheap.

The 25-year-old is a target of Chelsea’s, and the Blues have been in discussions with Napoli over an exchange deal feature Romelu Lukaku.

However, the Gunners could now hijack that transfer by pushing to sign Osimhen themselves.

A striker is seen as the last piece of the jigsaw for Arsenal, as Arteta looks to bridge the gap between them and Man City next season in the Premier League.

The Nigeria international has thrived at Napoli, scoring 76 goals for the club in 133 appearances.

One stumbling block on this deal could be the price, which is why the club would have to sell some players to boost the transfer kitty.

Arsenal recently sold Emile Smith Rowe to Fulham, and Football Insider revealed the Gunners are willing to sell academy graduate Eddie Nketiah.

Sporting Lisbon’s Victor Gyokeres is also a target for the Premier League side, and he’s seen as a more realistic option due to the price tag.
