By Amir Mir

Victor Wanyama has stated that he was “glad” to get on the scoresheet as Tottenham beat Manchester United 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at White Hart Lane.

Spurs duo Wanyama and Harry Kane were the goalscorers for the home team, with the latter’s strike being the difference on the day.

It was an emotional day for those associated with the club as Wanyama’s powerful header opened the scoring after six minutes.

Three minutes after the break, Kane then doubled his side’s lead but the home side had to then grind out a win when Wayne Rooney struck after 71 minutes.

After the match, midfielder Wanyama sent this message to supporters as he was clearly delighted with the win.

Wanyama played the entire match and picked up a yellow card in the second half after his foul on Anthony Martial.

He was a summer signing from Southampton, having previously worked under Pochettino during his time at St Mary’s.

Over the course of the season, Wanyama has played 45 matches in all competitions, scoring four goals.
