Martyn Waghorn has taken to Twitter to respond to Josh Windass goodbye message in hilarious fashion.

The ex-Wigan attacker completed his transfer to Ipswich on Monday, which prompted Windass to bring up an old picture of his now former team-mate with a poor haircut.

Waghorn, 27, then responded by aiming a funny dig back at the Gers playmaker, comparing his hair style to that of Hollywood actress Keira Knightley.

"Could be worse Windass, could look like Keiara Knightley in Bend it like Beckham," he said on his personal Twitter account on Monday afternoon.

Waghorn was left out of Pedro Caixinha's squad for Sunday's Scottish Premiership opener at Motherwell and has since been flogged for an undisclosed fee to English Championship side Ipswich, where he has penned a two-year deal.

The attacker will be joining up with another Gers drop-out in Joe Garner, who has already began life well at Portman Road when he scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over Birmingham.

Waghorn moved to Ibrox in 2015 and has since scored 44 goals across all competitions while winning the Scottish Championship title in the process.

Windass, 23, was in top form for Rangers on Sunday as they beat Motherwell 2-1.

The former Accrington Stanley ace hit the woodwork on two occasions while debutant Graham Dorrans found the net in each half to give Caixinha's side a good start to the campaign.
