Watch: Arsenal fans react on Twitter to incredible scorpion-like Giroud goal v Palace

By Amir Mir

Olivier Giroud scored an incredible scorpion-like goal for Arsenal during their Premier League match against Crystal Palace – and fans on Twitter lauded the finish as the goal of the season.

The Frenchman scored the goal during the first half of the Gunners Premier League match against London rivals Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

Giroud started the attack with a lovely flick to his Gunners teammate Alexis Sanchez on the halfway line.

The Chilean then delivered a wonderful cross which Giroud met by sticking out his leg behind him to score quite an outstanding goal.

Fans on social media were amazed by his strike as they hailed it as goal of the season.

Supporters felt that the incredible finish was better than Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s, who scored a not too dissimilar goal for Manchester United against Sunderland on Boxing Day.

Additionally, fans even stated that Giroud’s goal was not even offside as Mkhitaryan’s, even though it was given, should not have been allowed.

All in all, the Arsenal faithful were in absolute awe of the finish as Giroud scored the best goal of his career.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Giroud has now scored five Premier League goals this season in 12 games as he has found first-team football hard to come by due to the form of teammate Sanchez.
