Wenham warns Markanday could follow Madueke out of Tottenham after Nuno snub

Tottenham must create a clear pathway to the first team for their young stars or risk losing top talents like Dilan Markanday.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Markanday, 20, has featured on the bench for Tottenham in the Premier League but is yet to make his senior debut.

Wenham has been blown away with the striker’s form this season after he bagged six goals in six Under-23 games and described his record as “insane”.

However, he has been left concerned after the player wasn’t brought on off the bench against NS Mura next week.

Wenham has warned Tottenham could lose Markanday in a similar fashion to how PSV attacker Noni Madueke left the club.

“Tottenham need to be careful,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“We have lost other talented players before by not involving them enough.

“The likes of Noni Madueke who is doing exceptionally well at PSV and is being linked with big-money moves left, right and centre.

“He couldn’t see a pathway at Tottenham, that’s why he left and went in search of regular football.

“We lost a good central defender called Luis Binks, who is now at Bologna.

“We need to create a clear pathway for our better young players and I include Dilan Markanday in that.

“He just needs an opportunity to impress and I really hope we give it to him.”

Madueke has scored six goals in 14 appearances for PSV Eindhoven this season.

He left Tottenham for pastures new in 2018 and joined PSV’s reserve side.
