Kevin Phillips has apologised to his West Brom followers as he hailed the Wolves stars he claims have no reason to quit the club for Europe’s elite clubs.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Baggies striker drooled over the key Molineux players he claims can secure another top-seven finish this season to secure European football.
Phillips namechecked Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota and Joao Moutinho as three regulars in Nuno Espirito Santo’s side who have no reason to leave.
Asked by Football Insider about Jota and if “big” clubs would want to sign him, Phillips said: “Well, yes but getting him out of Wolves, Neves, trying to get him out – why
would these players want to leave Wolves?
“West Brom fans or my friends won’t thank me for saying this but they’re a fantastic outfit and they’ll challenge for Europe again this year.
“I know they had a slow start but I think they’ll pick up second half of the season.
“Why would you want to leave Wolves? Of course, the big clubs are always looking for top quality players and him, Neves and Moutinho are three top-class players.”
Wolves arguably gave Liverpool their toughest domestic test of the season on Thursday night when they pushed them all the way in a 2-1 win for Jurgen Klopp’s all-conquering side.
The Midlands outfit are seventh in the Premier League, six points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea.
In other West Brom news, it can be REVEALED that Rangers have opened talks to sign Hawthorns rising star amid contract opening.
