Pundit backs West Ham to sign '8/10' Tarkowski after sitting next to him last week
Kevin Phillips has claimed James Tarkowski would be a “good signing” for West Ham United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the 2000 European golden shoe winner insisted Tarkowski would be an “eight out of 10” performer week in, week out.
Football Insider learned on 14 June that the two-time England international is “very keen” on a move to the London Stadium.
The Hammers are still interested in the Burnley defender after their failed pursuit last summer.
Tarkowski’s has just one year left to run on his Turf Moor contract.
“I think it would be a good signing,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.

“I should’ve asked him, he was at the cricket last week sat about 10 rows from me!
“I think it would be a decent signing, he’s a good solid centre-half.
“I was surprised when Dawson first went to West Ham but he’s been excellent. A good British centre-half.
“Tarkowski fits that mould. They’re a seven or an eight out of ten every week.
“He’s not going to want to go there and not play. He’ll want assurances he can play.
“If he does go there, can Dawson recreate his performances from last year? Maybe he’ll have to make way or they’ll have to share the load.”
Tarkowski featured in all but two of Burnley’s Premier League games last season as they enjoyed another solid season.
The 28-year-old has scored six goals and provided three assists in 159 top-flight games for the Clarets.
