West Ham expected to miss out on Ben Brereton Diaz after source's update - pundit
Ben Brereton Diaz would only sign for West Ham if he was guaranteed regular game time, according to Kevin Campbell.
The ex-Arsenal and Everton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, does not believe the 23-year-old would start many games ahead of Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio.
Brereton Diaz has made an impressive start to the 2022-23 campaign for Blackburn Rovers.
Sources told Football Insider last week (6 November) that West Ham are plotting a January move for the Chile international.
The forward’s contract is up at the end of the season and Rovers are open to offers this winter to avoid losing him for free.
Brereton Diaz scored a late equaliser against the Hammers on Wednesday night as Blackburn knocked David Moyes’ side out of the EFL Cup on penalties.

When asked by Football Insider if a move for Brereton Diaz is looking ever the more likely, Campbell issued a a four-word verdict: “I cannot see it.
“Ben Brereton Diaz has been on fire this season. He is scoring regularly and have a real impact in the Championship once again.
“He will want to go somewhere where he will be a starter. I don’t think he would be at West Ham. Would he start ahead of Scamacca and Antonio? I can’t see it.
“I understand why West Ham are interested because David Moyes needs a deep squad. But, I don’t think Ben Brereton Diaz would go somewhere to be second fiddle.”
