West Ham lead race to sign Leeds sensation valued at £15million - report
By Matt Farr
Leeds face a battle to retain the services of goalscoring sensation Chris Wood this summer as three Premier League clubs front the race, according to a report.
The Mirror claims that West Ham and Stoke lead the race to sign the 27-year-old this summer, following a stunning run of goalscoring form in the Championship this season.
It is said that Southampton are also interested in prising Wood from Elland Road.
Wood scored an impressive 30 goals from 48 appearances in all competitions this season, despite the Yorkshire-based club missing out on promotion.
However, West Ham are among three top flight sides keen to offer the New Zealand international an escape route to the Premier League, with the striker valued at £15million.

Leeds though, will have little intention on parting with their most prized asset, who still has two years left run on his current deal at Elland Road.
Football Insider revealed that Everton were also keen on a summer move for Wood.
Wood’s fine form had caught the eye of the Chinese Super League’s financial elite back in January, but Leeds were adamant he was not for sale.
Their stance is not likely to change this summer, even though the prospect of playing regular football in the Premier League could prove to be an enticing prospect for the player.
Football Insider verdict
Interest in Wood’s services was inevitable this summer, after the striker almost singlehandedly fronted Leeds’ promotion charge. The club may have missed out in the race, but Wood’s goalscoring ability was clear to see. A number of top-flight sides are in the market for a prolific striker this summer, including West Ham, and Wood would be a top choice. Questions may be raised over his ability to replicate his form in the top flight, although he has previous Premier League experience. Leeds won’t want to sell but an offer of at least £15million should tempt the club into selling. Championship clubs are often powerless to resist when a top tier side comes knocking, and it would come as little surprise if Wood were to make the jump.
In other Leeds United transfer news, the club have been installed as strong favourites to sign this 28-year-old ace.
