Sources: West Ham make contact over Orsic deal as plan revealed to blow Arsenal away

West Ham have registered their interest in signing Dinamo Zagreb winger Mislav Orsic, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The Hammers watched the forward put Tottenham to the sword last week with a devastating hat-trick to dump them from the Europa League.

A West Ham source has told Football Insider the club have made contact with Zagreb this week over a potential summer deal.

Arsenal have also been in touch with Dinamo to ask what it would take to prise Orsic away in the next window.

The battle for the signature of the Croatia international comes as the London duo look to strengthen their attacks.

He is a wide forward who predominantly operates on the left flank but can also play on the right and down the middle.

Orsic represents an intriguing option as he has proved himself at a high level against top teams.

He is also at a club used to selling their top stars to the European big hitters.

Orsic has scored 53 goals in 123 games since joining Dinamo in 2018 from South Korean club Ulsan Hyundai.

He has been especially effective this campaign, scoring 19 goals and supplying eight assists from 36 matches in all competitions.

This tally includes five goals and two assists in the Europa League, an important barometer for Premier League clubs of a player’s talent.

Additionally, the wide forward has earned six caps for Croatia and has had spells in Italy, Slovenia and China as well as South Korea.
