West Ham may have found Mark Noble replacement after source's offer reveal - pundit

Jesse Lingard could go some way to replacing Mark Noble at West Ham, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Lingard returning to the London Stadium on a permanent deal would be a “perfect match”.

A West Ham source told Football Insider earlier this week (26 June) that the club have made an offer to the 29-year-old who is understood to be keen on a return.

The England international spent the second half of the 2020-21 season on loan with the Hammers where he recaptured his form.

He is now a free agent after leaving Man United at the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

“I think West Ham are definitely leading the race to sign Jesse Lingard,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He had a frustrating end to his Man United career but we’ve seen what he can do his mind is at it at Man United and we can see what he can do when his mind is at it at West Ham.

“It’s a club where he knows all the players, he knows the fans, he knows the manager, he knows the set-up. It’s the perfect match.

“I’m sure they can pay the right amount of money that he deserves. It’s the perfect match for Jesse Lingard.

“There is no club better where he will get minutes. I don’t see him going to a top-four team, so, for me, it’s a perfect match.

“West Ham need cover in that position. Jesse Lingard can really lush other players in that midfield. Especially after losing Mark Noble, they need players in there.

“For me, Lingard would be a great signing.”
