West Ham star Bowen could snub Liverpool move after source's update - pundit

Noel Whelan has suggested Jarrod Bowen could snub a move to Liverpool if West Ham qualify for Europe this season.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Reds face a hard time trying to prise the 25-year-old from the London Stadium.

As revealed by Football Insider on Thursday (13 January), Liverpool are continuing to keep close tabs on his performances ahead of a potential summer move.

An Anfield source told this site the Reds are “hot” on the winger and had scouts in attendance to watch him score twice in Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Norwich City.

Intriguingly, the source also said Bowen would be “keen” on a move to Anfield.

However, Whelan suggested the West Ham star could change his mind if the Hammers qualify for Europe.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge “It would be natural (to consider leaving) if they were in eighth or ninth.

“I think if they get into the Champions League positions then it’s not going to be an easy transfer. If they stay where they are right now, Jarrod Bowen obviously really enjoys playing under David Moyes.

“He enjoys playing with his teammates where he is right now. You can see that in his performances, in the way he’s played ever since he’s turned up for West Ham

“I think he’s got a really good relationship with David Moyes. I think if they finish in Europe again, he might think again.”

Bowen has scored eight goals and contributed 10 assists in 30 appearances this season.

He has 79 Premier League games under his belt to date.
