West Ham are submitting an offer to Julen Lopetegui after holding initial talks with him about becoming their new manager, sources have told Football Insider.

The Hammers are ready to offer the 57-year-old a highly lucrative deal to make him the East London club's best-paid manager ever.

West Ham are aware of strong interest from Bayern Munich and fear the Germans will blow them out of the water if they don't get a deal agreed soon.

Bayern will be without a manager at the end of the season, with the club having already announced Thomas Tuchel’s departure.

West Ham ready to offer manager best-ever deal

Sources told Football Insider on Wednesday (1 May) that the East London outfit changed their mind on handing current manager David Moyes a contract extension earlier this year due to pressure from fan groups.

David Sullivan and the rest of the board at the London Stadium were ready to agree a two-year extension, but talks have since stalled amid growing unrest from fans over Moyes’s approach.

Lopetegui meanwhile has been out of management since leaving Wolves on the eve of the current Premier League campaign.

He departed Molineux after believing promises over his playing budget had not been kept by club chiefs. The Spaniard guided Wolves to safety last season, having joined the club when they were rock bottom of the table.

Moyes’s future at the London Stadium remains uncertain, despite the Scot having clinched the Europa Conference League trophy with the Hammers last season.
