West Ham in ongoing talks for international midfielder (not Carvalho) - reliable journalist
By Danny Wright
West Ham have made an offer for Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong, according to a reliable journalist.
Mohamed Bouhafsi, of French news outlet RMC Sport, claimed on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon that the Hammers are now in ongoing talks with Sunderland over a deal for the 23-year-old.
It is also understood that European giants Lyon have the 18-times Gabon international on their radar.

It is unclear how much the Hammers have bid for Ndong, but the Independent have recently reported that the London club will be looking at the Sunderland ace if they fail in their pursuit of Sporting CP’s William Carvalho.
Ndong was part of the Sunderland side that got relegated to the Championship last season as he played 31 times in the league, scoring one goal and supplying one assist in the process.

He has already emerged as a key part of Simon Grayson’s squad this season having played in all 90 minutes of Sunderland’s opening six fixtures.
Football Insider Verdict
West Ham fans will no doubt be annoyed if they go from pursuing Portugal international William Carvalho to Sunderland’s Ndong. The former Lorient midfielder will certainly be a cheaper buy for the Hammers but he is a good player and could do a decent job in Slaven Bilic’s plans alongside the likes of Cheikhou Kouyate in the more defensive role. West Ham’s defence has already been found out by their opponents this season and it would make sense if Bilic looked to add some more steel to his midfield. Ndong will do that, but again, a move for him seems like a complete cop out after pursuing Carvalho for so long.
