West Ham tipped by expert to beat Everton to James Tarkowski signing - 'I know they've looked at him'

James Tarkowski would favour a move to West Ham over Everton this summer.

That is the view of former England number one Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about his former Burnley teammate’s future.

Tarkowski has less than two months remaining on his contract at Turf Moor and is set to become a free agent at the end of June.

An Everton source told Football Insider (30 April) that the club are interested in signing Tarkowski if they beat the drop.

It is understood that recently-appointed director of football Kevin Thelwell is a big admirer of the Clarets centre-back.

Football Insider revealed last year (12 November) that David Moyes is also an admirer of Tarkowski.

Robinson expects the club to re-ignite their interest in the player this summer.

“I think there will be a lot of others in for him though,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“Everton will struggle to get him. I know West Ham have looked at him in the past.

“We know how badly they need a centre-half. They struggled to put any out against Arsenal.

“Given the season Everton have had, they might struggle to get Tarky. He will have a lot of offers on the table as a free agent and I’m not sure Everton will be the most appealing one.”

The Hammers are expected to sign a centre-back in the next window.

Moyes has struggled to field two centre-halves in recent games due to suspension and injury.
