Jarrod Bowen 'repaying' West Ham with new agreement

Jarrod Bowen's decision to stay at West Ham United this summer and help lead the charge back to the Premier League is a rare showing of loyalty in today's game.

That is the opinion of former Everton, Tottenham and Aston Villa scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

The forward has signed a revised contract with the Hammers, ensuring he will stay for next season but offering him a route out if the campaign does not go to plan.

Bowen will have a release clause that becomes available next summer if West Ham are not promoted, and he will earn a big bonus if they do go up.

The 29-year-old received plenty of interest this summer and undoubtedly could have secured a move back to the Premier League.

The likes of Chelsea and Everton were heavily linked, but loyalty has ultimately won out for Bowen.

Bowen signed for West Ham in 2020, joining from Hull City in a deal worth around £22million.

The Englishman had scored 16 goals in 29 Championship games in the first half of the season, and took to Premier League football very quickly.

The years since have seen him score 85 goals for the Hammers, becoming a legend when he scored the winner in the Conference League final in 2023.

Bowen is already revered at the London Stadium, but he would stand among West Ham's greatest ever players if he leads the club back up to the Premier League.

"To me, there's not enough loyalty in football as there is, but he seems a loyal player to his club, you know, and he realises what West Ham have given him," King told Football Insider.

"They've brought him from Hull City. They've turned him into an international footballer.

"He's worshipped down that part of London, and it's nice to see that he's repaying the supporters and the football club."

Bowen following the Mark Noble route

Mark Noble is among West Ham's greatest legends ever. Coming up from the academy, the midfielder made 550 appearances for the Hammers.

Only briefly leaving the club for loans with Ipswich Town and, interestingly, Hull City, the 39-year-old spent the entirety of his career on the books at West Ham.

Even after retirement from playing, Noble has continued at the London Stadium and now works as a sporting director.

Bowen is quickly reaching that level of legendary status, and while his career begin at West Ham, he will be recognised as a one-club man in every other sense.
