Sources: West Ham to submit 'improved' Abdul Fatawu offer
West Ham are set to make an improved offer for Leicester City and Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu after having their first offer rejected, sources have told Football Insider.
Fatawu, 22, is set to leave Leicester this summer following their relegation from the Championship.
He continued to shine in the second tier last season, despite their downfall as a club, with 16 goal contributions in 44 matches.
The Ghana winger has emerged onto West Ham's radar as Nuno Espirito Santo aims to build a squad worthy of winning the Championship title.
They have seen an initial bid for his services rejected by the Foxes, but are keen to return with another offer that could tempt them into a sale.
Fatawu is yet to report for pre-season training at Leicester after representing Ghana at the World Cup before their group stage exit.
Everton and Sunderland have each also been linked to his services in recent months, but West Ham are currently at the front of the queue to seal a move for Fatawu.
West Ham to make second offer for Abdul Fatawu
The 22-year-old first impressed on these shores during a loan spell at Leicester from Sporting CP in 2023-24.
He registered seven goals and 13 assists in 43 appearances that year as the Foxes signed him permanently for an initial £8.5million after winning promotion to the top flight.
Fatawu was unable to make his mark in the Premier League due to a long-term ACL injury that restricted him to 11 league appearances.
He impressed once more in the Championship last season, with sources telling Football Insider that Fatawu is open to joining West Ham to be a part of their promotion push next term.
West Ham battling Ipswich to sign Manu Duah
The Hammers are eyeing another Ghanaian target as San Diego FC centre-back Duah also emerges onto their radar.
Sources have revealed to Football Insider that West Ham and Ipswich are keen on Duah as he impresses in the MLS.
The 21-year-old, who has been called up to the Ghana national team once before, has featured 17 times for San Diego so far this season.
He made his MLS debut last June and featured 22 times in all competitions in his first season with the club to help them finish top of the Western Conference.
