Crysencio Summerville: Expert shares if West Ham star will push to leave London Stadium

Crysencio Summerville could stay at West Ham United beyond the summer transfer window despite growing interest from clubs including Aston Villa.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a strong season at the London Stadium despite the team's struggles, leading to speculation that he could be tempted away.

However, having previously achieved promotion from the Championship with Leeds, it is not a certainty that he would push for a move if the Hammers go down.

Former West Ham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that there is a feeling Summerville could remain in East London regardless of their Premier League status.

West Ham will be forced to sell players this summer, but if they can raise funds from the sales of fringe players, they could have a chance at keeping their stars.

Could West Ham keep Crysencio Summerville?

Brown told Football Insider last month that West Ham could be forced to sell Summerville when the summer transfer window opens due to financial concerns.

The Hammers reported over £100million in losses in their recent accounts, meaning they will likely be made to sell regardless of their Premier League status.

However, Summerville remains an important player under Nuno Espirito Santo, who would be reluctant to see him leave in any circumstances.

"I wouldn't say it's a certainty that Summerville will leave West Ham," Brown told Football Insider.

"Of course, they're in a difficult financial situation and might end up getting relegated, so keeping their best players is going to be a tough ask.

"But ideally, they want to sell fringe players to raise money before they look at their star names.

"From Summerville's point of view, this has been his first impressive season in the Premier League, at a club where he's a key player and the fans love him.

"He's been in the Championship before and achieved promotion with Leeds, so it's not something alien to him; he knows what it's like.

"West Ham will be keen to keep him because they'd have a better chance of coming back up with him in the side, even if it might be difficult.

"So I don't think you can completely rule out any chance he might stay, even though there is interest from Premier League clubs who could take him away.

"I'd be surprised if he really pushed for it, I don't think he'll force a move away. If the right offer comes in then yeah, he could go, but he could also stick around."

Aston Villa backed to sign Summerville

Despite the feeling that Summerville's departure from West Ham is not a certainty, a number of Premier League rivals have set their sights on his signature.

Brown told Football Insider on 8 April that Aston Villa want to sign Summerville and could be prepared to make a "huge" move if the Hammers are relegated.

Villa are keen to take advantage of West Ham's financial situation, which has also seen the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Mateus Fernandes linked with moves away.

Unai Emery is believed to be keen to add new wingers to his squad given the lack of quality wide options available to him as things stand.

Tottenham were heavily linked with a move in the mid-season transfer window, but Aston Villa are now prepared to join the race and could get a deal done.
