West Ham an 'interesting investment' for Amanda Staveley: 'They've not denied it'

Published on

Amanda Staveley joining forces with Daniel Kretinsky at West Ham United should not be entirely ruled out by supporters.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that, while unlikely, very little is impossible in football.

The former Newcastle United figure was recently pictured at the London Stadium, sparking rumours of a potential deal behind the cards, but that was quickly squashed.

PCP Capital Partners, the firm Staveley runs alongside husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi, have explored the possibility to invest in the Hammers.

It was revealed, however, that the duo were only present for Take That's Circus Tour in East London, being invited as guests of the venue.

Supporters have been debating and weighing up the pros and cons of bringing Staveley aboard, but Borson remains sceptical about the idea.

Stefan Borson 'sceptical' of Amanda Staveley rumours

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson explained that the 51-year-old would be more likely to broker a deal for someone else, rather than strike one herself.

"I'm pretty sceptical. Staveley is really a front person for other investors. She might put in a small amount of equity," he said

"But the chances are that she's getting her interest from putting the deal together and being involved in the management of the business.

"I think West Ham would represent an interesting investment for somebody. I would be skeptical overall about Staveley and West Ham.

"But they've not denied it, so it's not impossible."

West Ham squad already taking shape after Daniel Kretinsky war cry

For now, Kretinsky remains West Ham's majority shareholder after taking over from David Sullivan, who has now stepped down from his role.

One of his first actions was to hit back at reports of the Hammers needing to sell after relegation to the Championship, but moves are already being made.

Mateus Fernandes has joined Tottenham Hotspur in an £85million deal, with Crysencio Summerville expected to join him through the exit doors.

Jarrod Bowen, however, is increasingly likely to stay and fight in the Championship, and that will be a huge boost for Nuno Espirito Santo.

Supporters are still waiting anxiously for signings to arrive in East London, though.
