West Ham have bid £12m for Norwich City's midfielder James Maddison, according to a report.

claim that David Moyes was watching the player as Norwich drew 1-1 with Chelsea before losing on penalties in the FA Cup. The report also states that other Premier League sides have shown interest in the 21-year-old, and that Norwich would likely hold out for more money. Maddison came up through the youth ranks at Coventry before signing for Norwich for £2.4m in the summer of 2016. He's made 26 Championship appearances this season, scoring seven goals and adding five assists.

Football Insider verdict:

Maddison would be a great buy for West Ham after they're reportedly close to a deal for Inter Milan midfielder João Mário on loan. However, they're going to have to spend more money if they want to land him in January, with bigger Premier League sides taking an interest. Maddison has great potential and should easily be able to make the step up to the top flight. West Ham should step up their interest accordingly and make a second, improved bid before their rivals wake up and make their move.
