Whelan tips Bamford to hit 'brilliant' new heights thanks to one Leeds teammate
Noel Whelan has claimed a fully fit Rodrigo Moreno should help get the best out of Patrick Bamford at Leeds United.
The former Leeds forward, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the English hitman will be buzzing to have the Spaniard as his strike partner.
The duo only managed to play 18 times alongside each other last season as injuries hampered Rodrigo’s campaign.
However, the pair have both started in the pre-season friendlies against Real Betis and Ajax.
Whelan admitted Bamford, 28, had found himself “isolated” at times without Rodrigo last season.
He suggested the former Middlesbrough star would be thrilled to have the Spaniard fit and firing again.

Whelan told Football Insider deputy editor Russell Edge: “I think he’d play a lot closer up towards Patrick.
“He (Bamford) was a little bit isolated at times in certain games, not all games but a few games.
“He’s (Rodrigo) one of these people that likes to run past the centre-forward as well. Make those bursts from deep into the box.
“I think that’s what will help Patrick, somebody with that cleverness. Once they play more games together, you get that understanding of each other’s games.
“I think the two of them could be absolutely brilliant together. It is all about keeping that that sharpness, keeping that fitness.
“Those partnerships we talk about all over the field, that could be a really crucial partnership.”
Bamford scored 17 times in 38 Premier League games last term.
Meanwhile, Rodrigo contributed seven goals and two assists in 26 league outings.
