The return to fitness of Richarlison, Allan and Andre Gomes will be a massive boost for Everton ahead of the Merseyside derby, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former Leeds United and England full-back believes Everton will be full of confidence after their 100% start to the season.

Richarlison limped off after just 25 minutes in the Toffees’ 4-2 win over Brighton prior to the international break but recovered to play for Brazil in their World Cup qualifier against Bolivia on Wednesday night.

Midfield pair Gomes and Allan both missed the game against the Seagulls but manager Ancelotti has confirmed Allan is “100% ready” for the clash against Liverpool.

The Italian said Gomes’ injury was “little” and he could be in line to return for the Merseyside derby.

Asked by Football Insider whether the injury news will be a major boost for Everton, Mills said: “Yes definitely.

“The Merseyside derby is going to be cracking, isn’t it?

“Everton could go six points clear ahead of Liverpool after five games. I mean, who’d have thought that?

“If Manchester City lose to Arsenal they’ll have lost two games this season.

“Liverpool could have lost two games within five and it’s feasible the way Everton are playing at the moment.

“They’ll have great confidence, with Liverpool’s previous result do they come out fighting? Do they come out wounded? Or does it affect them? Is there a bit of a hangover from that considering they haven’t really been together since then because of the international break?

“What a great opportunity for Everton. They’ve got players coming back fit, raring to go, in good form, playing against a Liverpool side that you’re unsure about.

“I think it’s going to be a fantastic game, it’ll be brilliant. They’ll be goals in it that’s for sure.”
