'Who's this fella think he is?' - Bruce Exclusive: West Brom & Fulham fires stoked by Leeds man

Adam Forshaw will have stoked the fires at West Brom and Fulham after his comments on Leeds United’s promotion hopes, according to Alex Bruce.

The former Premier League centre-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, believes the Baggies and the Cottagers will be desperately trying to get the Elland Road ace to eat his words.

Speaking on the Leeds That podcast, Forshaw believes that promotion is “a formality” for the Whites and admits he thinks they will “romp it” when the Championship resumes.

Leeds currently sit one point ahead of West Brom at the top of the Championship, with Fulham a further six points behind in third.

Bruce claims that the midfielder’s comments players will have the players at the Hawthorns and Craven Cottage champing at the bit to dash their rivals’ hopes.

Bruce told Football Insider:“When you come out and say things like that, it can spur on the opposition.

“I’m sure the West Brom and Fulham lads are thinking: ‘Who’s this fella think he is, saying all this? Let’s go ram his words down his throat.’

“It just gives people added incentive, I think you’re sometimes better keeping your head down and getting on with it – when you’ve got the job done, you can say what you want.”

Both Leeds and West Brom still have to face Fulham before the season is over, having already played against each other twice.

The Baggies’ first game back is set to be a home tie against Birmingham City.

In other West Brom news, Michael Brown has been left gobsmacked by the club’s official statement.
