'Wild' Naby Keita lambasted after source's Liverpool reveal - pundit
Naby Keita's performances have been "wild" and Liverpool should not renew his contract, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Kieta had not lived up to his price tag for Liverpool.
The 27-year-old moved to Anfield from RB Leipzig for £48million in the summer of 2018 and is out of contract at the end of next season.
A Reds source told Football Insider last week (10 June) that they have opened talks with the midfielder over a new long-term deal.
Asked whether he thought Keita deserved a new contract, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: "Not for me, no, not at all.
"There are so many strong midfield in the Premier League. Look at Spurs and their midfield, they're signing [Yves] Bissouma, look at Man City's midfield. Even Aston Villa's midfield.
"Then you look at Liverpool's midfield. Keita is on and off, he doesn't score enough goals and can be a bit wild in his play. He's not lived up to the price tag at all. I'm sure Liverpool should be looking to part ways.
"They need two top-class midfielders in there. [Jordan] Henderson is 31, he's not going to be playing as much. Fabinho is your one starter and Thiago gets injured a lot. They need two midfielders for me.
"I don't see them renewing Keita."
Keita played 40 times across all competitions for Liverpool in the 2021-22 season.
He started both the EFL Cup and FA Cup final penalty shootout victories over Chelsea and came off the bench in the defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
