Wolves Exclusive: Kevin Phillips delivers verdict on Daniel Podence
Kevin Phillips has claimed the Wolves front-three is “untouchable” despite the superb performance of Daniel Podence on Thursday night.
The former Sunderland and Southampton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, praised the 24-year-old for his display in the Europa League but insisted Nuno should stick with the front line of Diogo Jota, Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore.
Podence provided an assist on his first start for the Wanderers as they lost 3-2 at Espanyol in the second leg of their Europa League tie.
Two assists on his first Wolves start.

The Portuguese winger arrived from Olympiacos on deadline day last month, signing a four-and-a-half-year contract at Molineux.
When asked if the former Sporting player has given Nuno Espirito Santo a headache, Phillips told Football Insider: “It just shows you what a good squad Wolves have got.
“He is a player that you have not seen a lot of but he has just slipped in there and does a job – that just shows you what a quality player he is. What a good player.

“I love watching Wolves play, their style of play does not change. Nuno has got a good squad there. But I would say that the front three is untouchable. Competition is fantastic but if a front three is producing the goods week in and week out why would you chop and change it?
“Unfortunately, if you are a player on the outside looking in you just have to wait for your chance and when you do get it you have got to put a performance in.”
Podence scored 13 goals in 68 appearances for the Greek side before making the move to the Premier League.
Despite the loss in midweek Wolves still qualified for the last 16 of the Europa League where they will face their new signing’s former club – Olympiacos.
