Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have taken to social media to rage over a claim that star man Ruben Neves has travelled to Liverpool on Monday after suggestions he could make a move to Anfield in the summer.

Anfield HQ reporter Oliver Bond claimed on his personal Twitter account that the 21-year-old Portuguese star was on Merseyside, although failed to detail whether he was their for pleasure or for potential business.

Him being in Liverpool comes after a report from journalist Marcus Alves that the midfield maestro had been eyed up by the Premier League giants as a potential swoop this summer, with a deal reportedly already agreed a year after he arrived at Molineux in a £15.8million move from Porto.

Bond’s claims did not go down well with the Wolves faithful on Twitter, who immediately turned to accuse him of lying and asking for the proof that he had headed up the M6 to Merseyside.

Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:

Neves, a five-cap Portuguese international, has been an outstanding performer for Wolves and was a crucial to their title winning success this season, with six goals in his 40 appearances from a defensive midfield role.

In other Wolves transfer news, Wanderers are likely to sign this £95,000-a-week Tottenham player in the summer.
