Supporters of Wolves took to Twitter on Saturday to express their fears over a possible second relegation from the Championship in five seasons.

The Black Country club lost 1-0 to Newcastle on Saturday evening, a result which sees them just six points above the drop zone.

Despite the woefulness of Rotherham, Wigan and Blackburn, the current bottom three, Wolves fans have now accepted that they are in a relegation fight.

The club have broken their transfer record twice this season through the signings of Ivan Cavaleiro for £7million and Helder Costa for £13million, but despite their heavy spending, results have failed to improve.

Paul Lambert took charge in November after Walter Zenga was sacked by the board but has since done little to improve the club’s plight.

Here is a selection of tweets from Wolves fans:

Things could have been a lot worse for Wolves as Blackburn could only draw at home with bottom club Rotherham, and Lambert’s men were perhaps not expected to beat one of the two sides who have run away at the top of the league this season.

Their next four games are all at home and look to be a chance for Lambert to put the club back on the right track.

They take on Wigan in a crucial fixture on Tuesday before an FA Cup clash with Chelsea which is followed by an important derby game against Birmingham City.

In other Wolves news, three things learned from the game against Newcastle.
