Now Wolves’ promotion to the Premier League is confirmed, they have a huge chance to sign up transfer target Andre Silva.
The Mirror has previously reported that the Wanderers were plotting an audacious swoop for Silva, 22, less than a year after he signed for AC Milan in a deal worth £34million.
It was understood at the time that Premier League football would be a major pulling factor for Silva to ditch the San Siro for Molineux – and now that has been confirmed for next season, it has presented the perfect time for the cash-rich West Midlands club strike up a deal.
Jorge Mendes has the Portugal international on his illustrious client list – which also includes Nuno Espirito Santo, Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota – and that will also have an impact on whether Silva would join Wolves or the other team said to be interested in him, Arsenal.
He has made just six Serie A starts for AC Milan after joining them from Porto last year, so there’s every chance that he would quit the Italian giants to get a chance elsewhere.
With Benik Afobe’s loan deal nearing it’s end, Wolves will surely need to go out and sign a top-quality striker in the summer and Silva fits the bill perfectly.
Although he has not had the chance to shine at Milan, he still has scored 10 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions for them and he is also a goal machine on international level with Portugal by netting 11 times within his 20 caps.
There’s no time like the present for Wolves to start planning for next season and Nuno has to try and get ahead of the crowd to snap up the AC Milan centre-forward.
In other Wolves news, Stan Collymore has offered his instant reaction to Wanderers’ promotion to the top-flight.
