Wolves want £45million for Max Kilman including add-ons after rejecting an offer from West Ham, sources have told Football Insider

The London club’s opening offer was worth £25million in total as Julen Lopetegui looks to sign his former centre-back for his new club.

The London side believe they can strike a deal below Wolves’ asking price if Kilman pushes hard for the move this summer.

But sources say a deal is not close for the 27-year-old at this stage as Gary O’Neil’s side look to keep hold of their captain for next season.

Kilman is under contract at Molineux until 2028 after only signing a new five-year deal last August.

The Spanish boss is on the lookout for new defensive recruits after the club conceded 74 goals under David Moyes last season – the fourth-worst record in the Premier League.

West Ham have seen their opening offer turned down for the London-born defender after their bid fell £20million below Wolves’ asking price.

Reports have suggested National League side Maidenhead United, who Kilman joined Wolves from for £40,000 in 2018, hold a sell-on clause worth between 15-20 per cent on the Molineux star.
