Disgruntled Wolves fans took to Twitter to vent their frustration at Lee Evans’ display against Wigan on Tuesday night.

Supporters had barely let the ink dry on Evans’ new three-and-a-half-year contract which he signed just a day earlier before lambasting the 22-year-old on social media.

Paul Lambert’s team lost 1-0 to the Latics, who are currently in the relegation zone, and the fans were quick to point the finger at the 22-year-old Welshman.

Evans was taken off the pitch in the 63rd minute, so wasn’t on it when the Black Country club found themselves 1-0 down with two minutes left thanks to Jake Buxton’s goal.

Wolves find themselves in a relegation struggle and are hovering just six points above Wigan with 34 points in 18th place.

Fans had hoped that the club’s fortunes would turn around when they splashed over £30million in transfer fees this season.

However it appears to be another year of struggle as they aim to avoid relegation to League One, as they were in 2012/13 when they suffered back-to-back demotions.

Evans moved to Molineux from Newport County in 2013 and the 22-year-old has only featured in 11 games for the club this season after spending a good chunk of it out of injury.

Despite the lack of game-time this campaign, the Wolves faithful were not at all sympathetic towards their midfielder and stated that players like Romain Saiss should be recalled from loan to replace the out-of-sorts player.

Here is a selection of tweets from fans about Evans’ performance:
